Article: WHOM DO WE FOLLOW…???
If we are sure that we are children of God and we are called to walk in the light of eternity,whom are we following? On whom are our eyes set?
Its written,”For those God foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son,that He might be the first born among many brothers and sisters.”ROM 8:29.
To this you were called,because Christ suffered for you,leaving you an example,that you should follow in His steps. 1 PET 2:21.
We may say we are leading a better christian life than what we did yesterday.Is’nt it self gratification? Then we are following not His footsteps but our own…!The model…the example is Jesus…..not we ourselves or any other person walking on this earth,however holy they may be.
So let us follow His footsteps and walk with Him and strive hard to walk as He walked.It might not b easy…..It could not be achieved in one day…….but don’t get discouraged……
For it is written,”….. We are more than conquerers through Him who loved us”.Rom 8:37
Presenting or marketing Jesus as a very unique commodity has become a trend among many a preacher nowadays.Its rampant may be because it helps in gathering crowds.
Dear brethren,lets examine ourselves…Who is Jesus to us? Is He the Omnipotent Almighty who has distanced himself from us by His magnificance? Is He only our Creator? Or is He an effective means for improving our material life? Or is He a churning machine which spits out whatever material things we ask for?
Or…… Is He our Saviour…….. Redeemer……..Comforter…..our Soul mate, our Bridegroom and our Most Beloved…???
Jesus in the Bible is the ‘END’, not the’MEANS’.. He is the only way to attain eternal life. He is the first born, our elder brother who guides us and walks with us even in the shadows of the valley of death and darkness.
SELF DENIAL and CROSS are the keys to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus said, “In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have, cannot be my disiples.”Luke 14:33
Jesus Christ will come soon…… Are we ready…???
The greatest dilemma faced by the born again Christians is that they are born in to the Kingdom of God spiritually but are forced to continue life in this world physically.The conflict between the spiritual world and material world is so powerful that sometimes we tend to drift away unknowingly.
We are called to conform to the image of the Son of God but at times,there is this strong pull to conform to the world. Bible says not to love the world and things of the world.But may be because of ‘inferiority complex’, we are running to get the honor of the world and are thirsty to get the recognition of the world.
But dear brethren,if world loves and recognises us its not because world has changed but because we’ve changed and started loving the world.
Jesus said,”If you belonged to the world,it would love you as its own.” JOHN 15:19
So if world loves you, BEWARE: You are in great danger!!! World has entered you…
“Do not love the world or anything in the world….The world and its desires pass away,but whoever does the will of God lives for ever.” 1 John 2:15-17.
