EDITORIAL: Love – but why a crucifixion? | Evg. Darvin M Wilson

Love is a term that can be defined widely. It has a lot of synonyms. Do you love me? How much? These are very common questions between all those who are in love, between spouses, parents and kids, friends, and from a wider perspective, between God and us. It’s a two way question. The fact is, God wants us to love Him and we yearn for it. The difference is that He wants it His way and we want it our way.

‘For God so loved the world’ – but how can this be practical? Why was that so? Why is it such a weird love? Is it true? Let’s turn the context the other way round. How can we trust a person who has thrown away his own son to death? Is he trustworthy? Is that real love? Won’t he turn us away as well? These questions are genuine as per our perspective, but is it really our perspective or a doubt that the liar tries to plant in our brain?

God always wanted to have an ‘Abba’ relationship with us. He has a loving heart. Everything is under His control and He is in control. But He is also just and hence our sins have created a barrier all-through. The triune Almighty God, in His foreknowledge planned ahead, where God ‘The Son’ will be the very seed to be sown to bear sons and daughters of Abba, in God The Son.

SImply stated, for a tree to grow and bear fruits, a seed needs to be sown. And thus the seed produces other seeds. Similarly Jesus the Son God who is God himself has allowed himself to be sown like a seed to bear and have seeds of the same character and qualities. The Divine Love of our Abba, that allows us to bear his SONSHIP. We are His offsprings begotten by the humbleness that Abba has shown to get himself crushed and crucified. Crucifixion was not a coincidence or helplessness of God. But rather, that was how God demonstrated His Love so pure, yet humanly unexplainable, planned even before He laid the foundations of our planet, to have us call Him ABBA.

‘And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me’. John 17:22-23 {KJV}

The true LOVE of God Almighty. The real love of the real ONE.
