English Article: Today | Suni Roy
Sometimes, the smallest words carry the greatest meaning. One of those words is “Today.” Yesterday is behind us, and tomorrow is still ahead of us, but today is the day God has placed in our hands. It is a gift from God, a day we have been given to live, to choose, to respond, and to walk with Him. Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about what happened yesterday or worrying about what may happen tomorrow that we miss what God has placed before us. Today is a day that cannot be postponed.

What can you do today? You can begin with prayer. There is nothing more peaceful than handing over your day to the One who holds it. You can forgive someone, encourage someone who needs a word of hope, be grateful for what God has already given you, and rejoice in His goodness. Today is a fresh opportunity to hear His voice, trust His leading, and take the next step He is asking you to take. The Bible reminds us, “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” (Hebrews 3:15)
The writer of Hebrews takes us back to the people of Israel. Their exodus from Egypt, especially their crossing of the Red Sea, was a time of great celebration. They had seen the power of God and experienced His deliverance, but when they faced testing, they repeatedly hardened their hearts and turned away from the living God. Instead of continuing in faith and obedience, they resisted His voice. As a result, what should have been a journey of faith became forty years of wandering. Their story reminds us that seeing God’s power yesterday is not enough; we must continue to trust and obey Him today. The same principle applies to our lives. When we repeatedly justify sin, ignore conviction, or postpone obedience, our hearts can gradually become resistant to the voice of God. That is why God calls us to respond today. Tomorrow is not ours to claim. Today is what we have, and God calls us to listen, respond, and obey.
Hebrews 3:13 says, “But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” Sin is deceitful and destructive. It does not always harden the heart suddenly; often, it happens gradually, day by day. Sin may look attractive and even seem good for a while, but it carries consequences that can draw us away from God. That is why we need daily encouragement. We need one another to remain strong in faith, to keep believing in Christ, and to continue walking in obedience. Our walk with God is not something we should postpone.
When God speaks, don’t wait for tomorrow. Make yourself available today. Listen and obey. In 1 Samuel 3, when God called Samuel in the middle of the night, Samuel did not understand at first that it was the Lord calling him. Eli eventually recognized that God was speaking to Samuel and encouraged him to listen and respond: “Speak, Lord, for Your servant hears.” Samuel did not wait until morning. He made himself available to hear from God that very night. His willingness to listen and obey became the beginning of his calling as a prophet in Israel. Sometimes we simply need someone to encourage us to stop, listen, and recognize the voice of God. God is still speaking. The question is whether we are willing to listen.
So, do not miss what God wants to do in your life while waiting for tomorrow. When we believe God’s Word and walk in obedience today, we prepare ourselves for what He has prepared for the days ahead. What we surrender to God today can become the beginning of what He wants to do in our lives. Today is the day to walk with Him, to listen to His voice, to obey His Word, and to trust Him. As Scripture reminds us, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”
