Article: Wait patiently, God is in Action | San Mathew

I recently had a conversation with an youngster who believed in God but told me that when situation became unfavourable in his life ,he first submitted everything into Gods hand. Later on when he realized that God did not act on it instantly the way he thought, he started taking things into his own hand. Things did not get any better, but became more complicated. I quickly was reminded of Isiah 55:8,9. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways” declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Our life is short and filled with troubles. Troubles repeat or pave way for new ones. We have needs that come along as our life progress. Troubles and needs occur almost all of a sudden or they occur gradually. As humans we work towards resolving troubles and commit ourselves to acquiring our needs.

Then there comes the wait time! If sickness is our trouble, we need to wait for the process of healing to take place. If money is the cause of worry, we have to work towards achieving ways to cover our need. If its relationship is our problem, we need to give it it due time to work things out with each other. There is a significant wait time involved and it is crucial to deal with it in the right way.

While we wait on our situations to get better, there is a constant battle in our mind, that is going on. We start thinking about a lot of “What if’s” ? Depending on your intensity of trouble and if situations are against you, the battle in mind can turn worse. The thought of possible worse outcome of events can be traumatizing. It could emotionally paralyze you and make you feel like its all over and life has come to its end. All these chain of thoughts happen in your mind and it is essential to know how to deal with them to have a successful life.

Lets take the life of Job in bible. He was blessed with all material possessions and it was taken away from him . Disaster hit him in such a way, he faced financial loss, loss of family members, his health declined and he quickly hated his life. He became from hero to zero in no time. His immediate family (wife) said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die! ( Job 2:9). Recently I was sharing with this bible verse with a friend of mine and I asked him if he knew what logic is to curse God and accelerate the process of death? We all do age, age strikes us all and we are slowly extinguishing our time on this earth by the process of aging. Death is certain for all humans. Why end our life premature when God is in control of the happenings.

Our life on earth before our final moment is like walking through the path of dark ,filled with thorns which injure, torture and mortify us. Here, we are as christian believers ,we are engaging ourselves in a war against the forces of dark, evil called Satan. Depending on how good of a finished product God wants us to be, he will pass you through fire to purify you and to get you ready for God. The higher the level, the higher the devil and more is your trouble.

Job’s response to his wife is worth remembering for life. Job replied, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” In all this, Job did not sin in what he said. (Job 2:10). Regardless of how many success you hit and sacrifices you made its easy for the world around you to call you insane and suggest you that there is no way out.

Job displayed unshaken trust in God and he declared victory in his mind.He loved God more than anything he had. Time and again we need to think “ Is god first in my life “? Job loved God more than anything he had. When in trouble, can you tell the world around you and remind yourself like romans 8:28 says “ And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”.When adversaries hit do not sin, and do not quit, praise God instead, its all for good that is happening.Remind yourself of Psalms 22:3 But thou art holy,O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel ! When God’s name is lifted up and his name is praised he dwells in it. What else can you ask for with you other than the God himself in your times of trouble. If God is with you who can be against you. If God is with you and still your troubles give you a early pass to heaven isn’t it still not in his control and will? Daniel displayed same confidence “ If God saves from lion’s den or not, still HE is my God”. The moral is that the wait time is the test of faith and a period of purification.
We see a process around us for almost everything we do. A bread needs some resting time to be leavened of dough before it is baked. A student to scholar requires years of dedicated study. I st Corinthians 3:2 says I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. The process of going through extreme hardships in life, can get you quickly ready for solid food.
Alright, we know to trust in God and wait for our God in trouble ! What do we do while we wait ? The silent, lonely moments of wait gives satan and his enablers enough time to whisper “it is all over”, How long is the wait, Why wait for God, why not take matter into our own hands and deal with it alternatively. It is the trial time with immense temptation and even a time of questioning of own integrity and trail of events that occurred in your life. One start to think why me , why all these and where am I going.
To start with, understand that we are in a spiritual warfare and we need to be equipped for it. Ephesians 6:7 says Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. For every thought of evil, destruction and confusion that devil gives us ,we need to use the promises of God from the bible to defend it. Spend more time reading bible which will give you daily food to strengthen you and to fight your daily battle. Psalm 119:103, says “How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” Psalm 42:1, “As the dear panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

Wait …!what happened here really? The person who was used to milk now wants solid food, and cannot survive without it. To fight a battle in mind ,we need the word of God. Word of God strengthens us, nourishes and helps us to abide in him.
When insecurity hit me hard and fear gripped my spirit I felt crippled and weak, lost my appetite. I started reading word of God, lo! and behold !!! It filled my stomach, sweeter than honey. I regained strength and I am more alive and alert than ever before.
In my longest wait in the Lord,I abide in him and I bore fruits. My waiting time turned from idle into productive.
In my loneliest moments His presence made me feel heaven on earth. That is the peace that surpasses all understanding. Every soul in this earth needs it, and it is our job to share this peace to all.
My misery and empty pocket taught me to build Gods temple before making my house! First things first. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added to you.
When failure came one after another I realized that the steps of the Good man are ordained by God. He is my future, my very present help and my best friend.
When grief striked me and my face likened a dead one, God’s face started shining bright in me. I started singing his praise continuously. World was mesmerized at the change, I no longer was like dead rather became alive and started proclaiming his name.
Dear readers, I leave you with the following verse from Ephesians 6:10-18 .
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

When we come out on the other side victoriously waiting and going through the purification we have a story to tell to the nations. The story is all about Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. Those who believe in Christ shall have eternal life.

Today when I see in faith that God rescued me from my troubles, pardoned my sin and set my feet on a path to eternity I know his purpose in me is getting accomplished. God is calling you dear friends for a intimate walk with him in this ungodly, evil, and trouble filled world. Do you hear his calling? He wants to walk with you ! Do you commit to share about your loving redeemer to the needy multitude.
I wish you all the very best in God to believe in him, praise his name, and fight with the word of God every Strong hold that is standing as a stumbling block against you and be fruitful as you wait on his might hand to work for you.
