Consider this story,

There was a child who used to fail in class tests. One day while walking to his home he met one of his neighbors. The neighbor, who was an old man, started advising him.

Old Man: Child, You should study well to gain a good income.

Child: Grandpa, I’m studying well.

Old Man: I heard you failed in a class test. Look, I never failed in any of my class tests.

Child (amazed): Oh, I’m studying well, Grandpa. If you have any doubt please ask my parents.

The conversation ends.

Haven’t you noticed the conversation? The child was amazed to hear that the old man never failed in any of his class tests. But the truth was that the old man never went to a school so that he could fail!

Likewise is the case of religious texts. The best way to avoid any scientific contradiction in religious texts is to avoid scientific statements. This is not the case with the Bible. The Bible has contradicted science in history but the future discoveries have always vindicated the Bible. Since Bible is the true word of God how can it wrong!

Time to mention some scientific theories the Bible mentioned even before any secular experts could ponder it.

• From Astronomy:

a. The Bible is the only book that said the earth is round before Pythagoras. Throughout all history till Pythagoras secular experts of the day believed that the earth is flat. Pythagoras lived in 500 B.C. Aristotle is considered the first man to prove the earth is round (300 B.C.). But the Bible proved the earth is round about 2000 B.C. in the book of Job and 700 B.C. in the book of Isaiah.

“He [God] inscribes a circle on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness” (Job 26:10, translated directly from Tanakh)
Proof: The boundary between light and darkness is circle only in a sphere.

“He [God] sits enthroned above the circle of the earth” (Isaiah 40:22)

b. The Bible is the only book that said the earth is suspended in space. The Greek philosophers of 800 B.C. taught that the earth was a flat disc that floats on water. That was easier to believe at that time because many people have seen things float on water but no one ever saw things floating in space. The idea that the earth hangs on nothing would have been scoffed by the secular experts at that time. The Bible around 2000 B.C. in the book of Job poetically yet clearly describes earth being suspended in space. History proved Bible to be true.

“…………He [God] suspends the earth on nothing.” (Job 26:7)

c. The Bible is the only book that predicted an expanding universe. The idea that the universe is expanding came in late 1920s when Hubble and astronomers with him measured the cosmological redshift and calculated Hubble’s constant. They inferred that the universe is expanding in reference to the data of redshifts. Yet the Bible clearly says the universe is expanding in passages like:

“This is what God the LORD says—the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out . . .” (Isaiah 42:5) around 700 B.C.

“God . . . stretched out the heavens by his understanding.” (Jeremiah 10:12) in 629 B.C.

What was often considered a poetic expression turns out to be more literal than ever thought, according to modern science!

d. The fact that the universe had a beginning was proposed in 1931 as the big bang theory. But the first speculations on big bang were proposed by Lemaitre on 1927. Before 1920s secular experts throughout the history of the world believed the universe was eternal. Even Newton who was a Christian was not bold enough to oppose it. Yet the Bible clearly stated around 1450 B.C. that the universe had a beginning (The Bible doesn’t clearly say about big bang). In fact it is the first line in the Bible.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)

• From Geology:

a. The Bible is the first book to tell that the continents where one land mass.

“And God said, Let the water be gathered to one place and, let the dry ground appear. And it was so. God called the dry ground “land”….” (Genesis 1:6) about 1450 B.C.

b. The Bible is the book to correctly tell about the water cycle long before any secular experts. The Bible said this around 930 B.C.

“All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again.” (Ecclesiastes 1:7)

c. By the mid-1800s, the uniformitarian geology gained acceptance. The uniformitarian view asserted that all the features of the earth’s crust must be only explained through natural processes of erosion and sedimentation. This assertion contradicted with the Bible’s claim that the earth crust as it is now was formed by catastrophic processes including Noah’s flood (Genesis 6, 7, 8). But in the late 1900s, the uniformitarian view which prevailed 150 years was overthrown by the neo-catastrophic view. The British geologist Derek Ager’s book ‘In the Nature of the Stratigraphical Record’ revolutionized the field of geology and conceded that they all were brainwashed into avoiding any interpretation that involve catastrophic processes. The new science is just heading the Bible way.

“….on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened…” (Genesis 7:11) written around 1450 B.C.

• From Biology:

a. Bible is the first book to tell about the importance of blood. The passage can refer to the circulation of blood which retains life in creatures especially animals. The Bible said this around 1450 B.C.

“For the life of a creature is in the blood…” (Leviticus 17:11)

b. The Bible claims that God created animals “after their kind” (Genesis 1:24). But in 1800s the field of biology was revolutionized by the theory of evolution which said that all the animals where created from primitive life. This theory still contradicts with the Bible. But since the theory of evolution is coming to nothingness (read article ‘Revolution: Rethinking Evolution’ in Kraisthava Ezhuthupura’) the contradictions is coming to an end without a rival.

“God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that moves along the ground according to their kinds.” (Genesis 1:25) around 1450 B.C.

c. The Bible says in Acts 17:26 & Genesis 1:27, that all humans are descended from one man and one woman. Some 1800s biologists argued that different races descended from lower animals, but today genetics has verified that there is only one human race.

“From one man He made all the nations, that they should inhabit the earth; …..” (Acts 17:26) around 1 A.D.

“So God made mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27) around 1450 B.C.

d. The Bible says in Job 40: 15-24, about a creature whose description is best fitting to a sauropod dinosaur like the diplodocus. From the Bible it is reasonable to infer that dinosaurs lived along with humans. The paleontology since 1900s said that dinosaurs died millions of year ago. But in 2005, Mary Schweitzer at North Carolina State University, extracted collagen proteins from dinosaur bones. In 2015, Dr. Susannah Maidment, Imperial College London extracted remnants of red blood cells from dinosaur bones. Now evolutionists are trying hard to find new theories because the soft tissues like collagen and red blood cells won’t last millions of years. It would be reasonable to say that the dinosaur died recently. But that reinforces the Bible.

Granted that Bible is not a science text book, yet it contains science of which some are mentioned above. These are mentioned so that you could know the scientific accuracy of the Bible. Since the Bible is the true word of God how can it be wrong! The purpose of the Bible is not to teach you science but to teach the way to the one true God. The Bible will teach you about Jesus the Messiah who died for your sins and rose from the dead so that you could have a perfect relationship with the living God. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 3:16). Are you ready to believe this and accept Jesus as your Lord?
