Article: Why does God make us wait? | Sharon John

We all want good things to happen in our lives, but too often we want it now… not later. When it doesn’t happen that way, we are tempted to ask, “when, God, when? “. Most of us need to grow in the area of trusting God instead of focusing on the “When” question.
‌Our human nature can make waiting for God’s perfect timing difficult thing to do. In fact, in the hustle and bustle of our lives, we often find it difficult to wait for anything or anyone. But if we decide to wait God’s way, we can become patient. It takes time, but as we let God help us in each situation, we develop patience, which is one of the most important virtues.(Galatians-5:22) “Patience is a fruit of the spirit”.

‌We don’t start out willing to wait. Our natural response to waiting is often anger or doubt. Simply feeling deep, complex emotions in waiting – especially for significant things, like a pregnancy or a Job. God chooses the right time, not us and He has His own criteria for that. So, whatever you are waiting for, you can trust God that the right time hasn’t come and that doesn’t mean you haven’t grown enough or you are not prepared yet. Only God know the reasons for the right time. Don’t blame yourself for a delayed fulfilment, just use the time you have to prepare and grow. (Psalm 27:14) ” Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. ”

‌God knows what we need, and if he wants us to wait, it’s always for our good. If we trust in Him, we know that he will direct our steps and point us to our right path. It’s not so easy to prayer first if we are in doubt or anger in wait, but as you develop this habit of prayer, we will find waiting becomes easier. If our prayers were answered quickly, we most likely would not notice or praise God’s divine work. Persistent prayer leads to more fruitful things than you could even imagine. (Philippians 4:6) ” Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

‌God makes us wait, so that He can also wait with us. He is helping us to prepare and grow. When we draw close to God in the seasons of waiting, it doesn’t matter how long we have to wait. If we grow our relationship with God, the wait is worth it. God uses waiting to test, teach and train us for what lies ahead. And by living in the midst of it, God will transform us. In scriptures we can see that how God always worked for his people, for example: Abraham and Sarah waited for a son, paul waited for release from prison, Job waited for suffering to end etc.. Just because you don’t see anything happening doesn’t mean God is not working. Trust in God and you will see a great miracle happening in your life.

‌God causes things to happen at exactly right time! Your job is not to figure out when, but to make up your mind that you won’t give up until you cross the finish line. The more your trust God and keep your eyes focused on Him, the more beautiful life you will have. So don’t give up! Don’t stop believing! Stay full of hope and expectation. God’s power is limitless and He will break through for you. (Galatians 6:9)” Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”.
