Article: The Power of a Wise Choice | Pastor Lalachan Abraham, Patna
“…“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live. You can make this choice by loving the LORD your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life.”….” (Deuteronomy 30:19-20a- NLT)
The passage above relates an episode in the history of Israel. What would happen to you if you were in the same valley of decision between these two choices? God said, “I am giving you two choices.” One is a path to life and other is a path to death. One choice brings blessings, and the other brings curses. It is so good to know we can do something to choose life, not just have an existence full of misery and death.
Every day God gives us, the freedom to make choices .To decide not to choose is a choice. Let me make it very clear—to decide not to choose Good is always a choice to choose wrong. Remember your decisions—will determine your destiny.
Jesus said, “Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.” (Matthew 12:30 NLT) If you do not crown Jesus, you crucify Him. There is no middle ground. Every choice has consequences. Every choice we make effects our today and our tomorrow and those around us, even your family and children. The choices we make that are wrong and disobedient to God will bring misery. They bring pain, devastation, suffering, and death, lasting consequences. Wise choices lead to life, health, and blessings. Wrong choices can bring curse, sickness, ruin, and death. You have the power to choose.
The choices we make that are righteous, good, pure, and of God unfold for us a path of life. Choosing God’s way is often the harder way, but you can be absolutely, 100% certain that he will reward you for your wise choice later. We can use our freedom to be wise, or unwise. We can do a great deal of good, or make poor choices that result in disastrous consequences.
God Has Already Chosen You that You Might Choose Him. That is why we are called His elect. “We love Him, because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Had God not first chosen us, we would never have the inclination to choose Him. Do not think that you have forever to make up your mind whether you are going to be a follower of Jesus Christ or not.
Each time you decide against Him, you harden your heart. Hebrews 3:7-8 says, “Today if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts.” It’s never too late to choose life. Choose Jesus because…This one decision will affect your life more than any other decision. It will determine your place in eternity and it will have a bearing on every other decision you make. After you die, there are no second chances to get saved. Choose life. Dear Friend, the day of choice is today. Your decisions will determine your destiny. Obey God, and leave the consequences to him.
