Don’t fear anything except the Lord of the armies of heaven! If you fear Him, you need fear nothing else, He will be your safety; but Israel and Judah have refused His care and thereby stumbled against the rock of their salvation and lie fallen and crushed beneath it (Isaiah 8: 13-15) living Bible (Illustrated). Fear of God that unique character can bring one more closely to God and be a partaker in His divine nature, and same time without that one can throw down to the bottom level of hell too.
“If anyone respects and fears God, he will hate evil, (proverbs 8:13) bible says that is the clear evidence of God’s fear, he won’t be able to keep evil in his heart he will be away from it, In Old Testament history Job is an unique example of Gods fear, God himself testifies about him (Job 1: 8) he kept God’s fear in his heart not only for his own sake but his family too, Job use to call his children on their assigned day and give a feast to all and after that he offered burnt offering for each of his children for he would say, ”perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts” job always did this, Again Job reminds to mankind fear of the Lord is “wisdom” and depart from evil is “understanding” Almighty says… (Job 28: 28)
Both house of Israel neglect to fear God and also they ignored His command mend, but they fear gentile’s nations and respect their rituals and practices, but the result was terrible and bitter, they ended up in exile,
Fear is a common factor specially when enemies are around, but for Israel God led through red sea, and God fight in their wars protect them inside cloud pillar and fire, even then they ignore and fear enemies than their own God.
God called Abram with the covenant if you obey me I will make you a great nation and I will bless you and make your name great and you will be a great blessing, that eternal Covenant still remains those who obedient to be like Abraham, obedience always shows respect and fear in Love , Apostle Paul says in Romans we have received grace and apostleship for obedience of faith among all the nations (Romance 1:5) so that the real blessings which Abraham received may receive all the earth through the Gospel of God .
Abraham realized what Lot is seeing is not the real blessings water flowing land with all vegetation’s or a permanent building of his own , or gaining reputation among city elders or being a leader. But he was focused on God and keep fellowship with him from the breaking of the day (Genesis 19:27) that was his practices. And looking forward to the city which has foundation and architect and builder is God (Hebrews 11: 9-10) Abraham’s fear of God and fellowship with him helped him to be stay away from all evil, but Lot had to be compromise with evil he was unable save even his own family.
But Abraham he kept Gods fear in his heart and Value the fellowship with Him, because of that he called the friend of God (James 2:23), and father of all believers.
These are the certain list of the blessings in Gods fear.
- They will have Strong confidence
- There Children will have refuge
- They have Fountain of life
- They will Avoid the snares of death
- They know the Secret of the Lord
- He Will make them known His covenant
- There is no want for them
Psalms 25:14,34:9, Proverbs 14;26-27.these all blessings God kept for those who fear him, todays generations ignore these blessings, they don’t have time to fear Him, Lets fear Him or else we will be I the situation as Jesus explained in Matthew 24: 37-39 for the coming of the son of man will be just like the days of Noah, they were busy in Entertaining themselves no time or will to seek God and fear Him, among ourselves also we developed an attitude of adjustment, not to resist evil but to compromise with it. Let’s examine ourselves, only fear of God can hate evil.
