Article: Being Quiet in the Den | Leny Shibu, Ireland
Often believer justifies himself or herself when landed in trouble. Why this trouble came and how it happened and what was my reaction to it and so on and on. My justification won’t help me get out of the problem instead it increases the stress within and loses concentration. Justification never edifies anyone. The justification from above is just and pure and holy. As a believer how am I supposed to face it? As a believer shouldn’t I be answering ?
A believer will end up in certain situations where onlookers might ask for an answer. Always discern the situations. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
The word of God is sharper than two-edged sword. It pierces through the thoughts of soul and spirit. Soul will say go and answer onlookers, justify yourself, you are none less than others, don’t keep quiet. Let’s look what spirit has to say. Romans 6:3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Focus clearly on the above verse. It says the ones who are baptized were as well baptized into his death.
A believer has to consider himself dead because we too share the death of Christ Jesus. Which clearly states that I as a believer is dead to any kind of suggestion and opinions. What if I disobey to the word? What if I still give away suggestions and opinions?
2 Corinthians 10:5-6 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete. My arguments and opinions create strongholds that produces disobedience to the word of God. Word of God says be silent and quick to listen, be sober minded. Arguments and opinions may justify you outwardly but inwardly it creates self righteousness due to which we boast about ourself the more.
It is imperative as a believer to consider yourself dead to arguments and opinions because it springs life of Christ within us, as He too kept quiet in front of the Pilate even when there was no sin in Him. So a dead person doesn’t need to prove himself or herself. As dead can’t talk similarly a believer is expected to be quiet where arguments and opinions are invited. It’s Christ who will prove the world that he or she is His child.
Let’s consider ourselves dead to every argument and suggestions instead be quiet and experience richly His blessings showered in Spirit for our spiritual growth. Amen!!!
