Article: Children, born of God, a heritage and reward from Him | Sheeba Robinson, Nagpur
“People born by the involvement of God”
Jeremiah 1: 5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
God said to Jeremiah that even before he was formed in the womb, God knew him. According to science, life begins at conception, but according to God, it is way before conception. There was a spiritual Jeremiah, whom God knew and existed even before Jeremiah was formed.. Then God set him aside.. so, on conception God took the spiritual Jeremiah and put him in his mother’s womb.
So Jeremiah was born just like any other person and yet it was God’s doing not the man’s..
Genesis 1: 27
So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.
Adam and Eve were made/ created in the spirit before they were formed in the natural/ physical.
Genesis 2: 7
“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”
It is only in chap- 2 that the man was formed. Even here it is seen only a man’s creation and yet in chap- 1, it is seen that a man and woman had already been created.
“People born like this are always born with God’s specific plans.”
John 1: 13
Children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
John the Baptist was born at the right time to be born, around the time when Jesus was born. According to people John the Baptist’s parents were barren and yet to God it was about waiting for the right time.
Psalm 127: 3
Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him.
We, as parents must dedicate our children in God’s hands and keep praying for them, so that His perfect will to be fulfilled in their lives..
Do you have any idea about what is God’s purpose for your children’s lives?
To open Hannah’s womb, God waited for her to pray- a prayer which she prayed and made a vow in 1 Samuel 1: 11, because the Lord had closed her womb.
“And she made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.”
This is what happened when she dedicated Samuel for the Lord, the Bible says,
1 Samuel 2: 26
“And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the Lord and with people.”
Did Hannah have any idea what God had planned for Samuel? Did she ever know that he would be the next ruler/ judge after Eli priest, and he would anoint the first two Kings of Israel?
To fulfill God’s plan in Samuel’s life, He gave Hannah a heart to gladly dedicate her firstborn son for God’s work.
# What about you?
# Are you teaching your children at their tender age about the will of God?
# Are you praying for your children according to God’s will?
# Are you pushing your children to get into the rat race of this world and to achieve your unfulfilled desires, without even praying to know His will?
# Are you holding back your children or are you becoming a hindrance for your children by not letting them to go as the Lord leads them?
“Just ponder over these things, children who are born of God, are a heritage and reward from Him.. They are not a personal property to hold back to fulfill family wishes. Instead God sends them to the earth to glorify His mighty name and to fulfill His plans through their lives..”
