“Love” a word that we often hear from people. We all have affection towards our people family etc. How about to God? Do we really love God? It is a familiar question we are asked and most of the time the answer is Yes’. It is very easy to say that we love God because we think that we do so. However we need to understand that whether the same way God thinks about us or not? Deuteronomy 6:5 says that we must “Love our God with all our hearts, with all our soul and with all our strength”. Loving God the way He wants us to do is very important and is not so easy to do so. However we can do it through following some simple steps that Bible teaches us.
By being Obedient To God
Our love towards God can be measured by how far we are obedient to Him. We see in John 14:23 that “ If anyone loves Me, he will keep my word”. Therefore to love God one must obey all His commandments which will help us to be more closer to God. Listen to Him and lead a life according to it. Bible says Obedience is better than sacrifice. Jesus is the best example of being obedient to God that He laid His life on the cross of Calvary according to the will of Father, the God. We must be always ready to do anything and everything that God tells us knowing that it is His will. No matter the consequence makes us happy or not.
By Loving Our Neighbours
We must love all our fellow beings and pray for them. No Matter whether they are good or bad to us and our hearts must be always ready to care for them. Loving them makes our love towards God more radiant and meaningful. Leviticus 19:18 Says that “Love your neighbour as yourself”.
Without loving others we can never claim that we love God. 1 John 4:20 says For he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen”. We must help them when they are in need and comfort them when they are weary. If we do not have a genuine care and love for others, all our efforts to please God are in vain. We must make use of every opportunity that helps us to show the love of God to our fellow beings through our deeds. Who knows one day you will win them for the glory of God by the same act?.
By Loving our Enimies
The act of Loving our enemies seems to be little tough however God expects it from us. Mathew 5:44 says “ but I say to you, love your enimies, bless those who curse you. “There may be people who trouble us so badly but we should never think about a revenge or arguments which are the loopholes for Satan to act in between and that will make the situation worst. We must pray to God to change their heart and use our spiritual strength to cast away the powers of darkness which makes the person to trouble you. Only prayer and patience can bring back a peaceful relationsip with your enimies.
If we really want to love God the way He wants us to do, then lets obey Him and prepare our hearts to be filled with a genuine love towards our fellow beings and our enemies as our God commanded us to do. Let us love the Lord with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our strength and with all our mind. Because He is Love.
